Some real Hunan treasures here; like the noodle soup: 酸豆角米粉 which is incredibly delicious spicy, also enjoyed a lot the tofu and celery. It's an otherwise unassuming restaurant, with a pleasant family feel to the service.
Excellent food at reasonable price.
Amazing!! Just amazing!!! Get it before it’s packed!!
I thoroughly enjoyed the Wonton Soup versus my main dish. My main dish was cashew chicken. It was extremely salty. The lunch special prices are low which worked out for the amount of salt in this dish. The ambiance is cozy. I do not recommend this place for a date location.
I came upon this place by accident but what a pleasant surprise. Great cucumber salad and green beans platter! Service is quick and the restaurant is clean. Hot and sour soup is a great starter too!
It's surprising how amazing this food is.
Portions too big and too expensive. I wouldn't recommend single eaters to come over. Couples or more are fine, though. I would have gladly ate half the meal for half the price. Food was alright.
Great Regional Cuisine , Well prepared, great variety on the menu. A different kind of Chinese restaurant. Love It !
very good for spicy foods.
Delicious food, authentically spiced and flavoured.
They offer a variety of Chinese dishes. We chose this restaurant because we love spicy foods. The frogs in casserole and the braised sliced fish with chill sauce we ordered are pretty good~ Also, it's a clean and comfort place.
Decent Hunan that won't break the bank. The preserved duck was unlike anything I've had before, a combination of smokey, soy, and who knows, to produce a very unique flavour. Pork belly was fatty, but tasty. Wash it all down with a Tsingtao and you're good to go!
Ordered the eggplant and it was good ! That s the item of My first choice for Chinese restaurant.
Decent Chinese restaurant. A bit pricey and not every dish is worth the money.
Chopped Pepper Fish head (Duojiao Yutou) is the best!
Tasty, cozy, and all-so-reasonably priced.
Very spicy hunan food in the city! The spice levels are pretty off the charts in terms of burning your tongue off. If you can handle all the spicy goodness, pop in for some noodles. The service is very welcoming and warm!
Cozy place for good Chinese food. Definitely on my recommend list for the neighborhood.
Good regional Chinese food in union square. Their menu overlaps with a Sichuan restaurant a few doors down the street. They both are pretty good though.
Everything was great, especially the mapo tofu. However, things were generally very salty, including the yangzhou fried rice. Perhaps that’s why the relatively milder tofu tasted so good.
Tastyï¼If you are tired of oily dishes, the rice noodle is not heavy. The beef is well cooked. The music is nice too(noon). The environment is very agreable.
Tasty spicy Chinese food. Authentic hunan dishes. Area is a bit small but good for a quick bite. No Americanized menus here haha
It was God Damn Delicious. Best Chinese Food I ever had. Green beans were stupid good!! ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘
Pretty good food. Good service
Delicious.
I got a bunch of the chicken dishes and they're pretty great, but I feel like you could get better quality food for the same price nearby. It's not a bad place but it's nothing special.
One of the most underrated Chinese restaurant in the city that I’ve tried. Right next door to Han Dynasty and so much tastier. Been here twice now and both times I really enjoyed the dishes we ordered. The most recent time I came with my friend on a snow day week night. The restaurant wasn't too busy so we got seated right away. We ordered one rice noodle soup dish, one braised pork belly and a stir friend bamboo shoots with stomach. All three dishes were delicious. The portions were good as well, we ended up taking some leftovers home. Some of the dishes may be a little on the saltier side if you usually eat lighter. I really like a lot of flavor and salt even though I know it's not good for you...
CHINA 🇨🇳Eat the World NYC review:It may not be the most popular Chinese restaurant on the block because of Philly Sichuan import Han Dynasty, but for our money, we'd go to Hunan Bistro any day of the week. Spiciness is tuned down unless you ask for them high, but flavors and presentation here are top notch.°The late Jonathan Gold, a personal hero and lost treasure of Los Angeles, once stated "When you tell somebody about a Hunan restaurant, always begin with the steamed fish head." Despite this advice, I am going to hold off and save this for the end of the article since that is how it was served to us, as our stomachs were already pushing back after the selection of dishes that did not seem to stop.
The food was good and the servers were accommodating
Their mung bean noodles is good as well as their mapo tofu. Not a bad alternative if Han Dynasty is too long of a wait.
Food was high quality and just tasted great. Kinda hard to find good Chinese food delivery in the city believe it or not. I wish it were spicier, and I wish more than one of my soup dumplings still had soup after delivery, but I can't really complain because everything was great. They should consider being able to cook spicier for those that can handle it or offer chili oil to customers.
Will definitely visit again. Great food, with a wide variety outside the usual American Chinese food canon (which they do have as well). Unusual ingredients, textures, and flavors. Very attentive service as well.
Delicious Hunan Mai Fen! I enjoyed all the plates we ordered!
Maybe it's a matter of preference, but I like the double cooked pork better at other places. If you like crispy, this may be the place for you. Otherwise, it's clean, and the service is friendly and fast.
Nice staff, food wasn't bad, but it wasn't really worth for the price.
Tried the classic Hunan dish Crushed Red Pepper Steamed Fish. It was good and I liked the flavors but it didn't taste that authentic. The peppers weren't that spicy either. We also got the Chinese Yam and Pork soup, which was just okay because the meat could have been more tender.
The fish head is good. The Dan Dan noodles was a little odd, I think they used spaghetti noodles instead of a chinese-style noodle
Very authentic Hunan food !
The lunch special here is a steal!
It is a place giving you the most authentic spicy Chinese food.
Their thousands year old egg with eggplant dish was delicious and they are very accommodating to large groups. Ours were 14 people total.
Good food, good size portion.
